Meet the Teachers

Amber Anderson: (Room 137) My name is Amber Anderson and this will be my 13th year teaching. I started teaching in Minneapolis at a public alternative school with highly mobile students. I spent the last 10 years in St. Paul teaching first grade, kindergarten, and Pre- kindergarten. I am very excited to start my 3rd year at Pike Lake with the blue team! My husband I have a 9 year old, 6 year old, and a 22 month old. I am excited for the fall!

Brittany Wenzel: (Room 140) I am very excited to work with you and your child. I am originally from a small town near Green Bay, WI. (Go Pack Go :-) I moved to the area to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. While there I received my B.S. in Elementary Education later followed by my M. Ed. in Elementary Education. This will be my 9th year of teaching and 6th year teaching kindergarten in Mounds View. When I am not at school you can find me working in my yard, hanging out with my cat, cooking or spending time with my family and friends. I was also recently engaged to my boyfriend of 5 years and we are excitedly planning our wedding for next summer!

Rachel Koehn: (Room 138) I am so excited to get to know you and your child this year! This will be my sixth year teaching, and my third at Pike Lake Education Center. I grew up in northern Wisconsin and earned my teaching license from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, gardening, spending time at the lake and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. This summer my husband and I will be welcoming a little boy into our family. I will be taking some time at the beginning of the school year to focus on loving and cuddling him.I look forward to meeting you and your child this winter!

Amanda Yang: (Room 138) My name is Amanda Yang and I am Ms. Koehn’s long term sub for the beginning of the year. I recently moved to the Cities from Rochester, MN, but am originally from Kansas City, KS. I graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. In my free time I enjoy handlettering, DIY projects, reading, and playing my guitar. Most of all, I delight in spending time with my family and friends.

Kelsey Tamble: (Room 135) Hello families! I'm Kelsey Tamble and this will be my 9th year teaching, but my first at Pike Lake Kindergarten Center! I recently moved back to Minnesota from Colorado, and am so excited to be a part of the Pike Lake community. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Masters in Education. My husband and I have a one-year-old daughter, Ava, and a spunky dog named Birdie. In my free time I like to do yoga, read, and go camping and hiking. I look forward to a wonderful year of learning and exploring!

Sara Morelli: (Room 139) My name is Sara Morelli and this is my 9th year teaching kindergarten in the Mounds View school district. I graduated from Augsburg College with my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education in 2011 and received my Masters of Teaching and Learning through St.Mary’s University May 2014. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading, baking, traveling, and being active outside. I live in Roseville with my husband Tony and my son Luca. I am looking forward to a great school year!
